And They Lived
Happily was a subjective term.
Katya didn’t want even to entertain.
The Prince was indeed a handful.
He tweeted and fired, tweeted and fired
and tweeted some more.
The Dow was plunging to new lows.
What was a cat to do?
Perhaps a shutdown of sorts
or a power outage?
She could put a sedative in his milk.
A new list of to do’s percolated.
Outside, the Bald Wonder
did some fancy maneuvers of his own.
In his realm, people were not so flippant.
People in glass castles had to be extra careful.
There were…no, there would be consequences
and even Katya
wouldn’t be able to avert them.

In 2013, Cornelia received Rain Bird's Kolokolea Poetry Prize for her poem, "Speaking French."
In 2015 her chapbook "Hawaiian Time," entered in the National League of American Pen Women's Vinnie Ream contest, was awarded third place in their inaugural multi-discipline category.
